A Study of Experimental Eosinophilia in Rat with Components of Cysticercas of Taenia solium

Abstract
To understand the effects of the eosinophils on the tumor cells espacially in experimental animal, induction of a constant and reliable experimental eosinophilia is prerequisite. To develop a model of an experimental eosinophilia, the author performed an experiment on rat using components from cysticercae of Taenia solium_ Count of eosinophils in blood samples drawn from tail veins was done at two-days interval after injections of cystic fluids, suspensions of the capsules and larvae.
The results obtained are as follows;
1. Peripheral eosinophilia were observed from the first day to fifiteenth day after second injuctions of the cyst fluid.
2. Larva component induced peripheral eosinophilia only on the 7th and 9th day after the second injections.
3. Cyst wall component showed marked and sustained peripheral eosinophilia from the first day to the fifteenth day after second injections and the mean differential count of the eosinophils was 15.8 ¡¾ 6.7 %
The above results suggested that peripheral easinopln7ia by cysticercosis of Taenia solium due mostly from cyst wall components, and it is requested to purify the active substance from the cyst wall.
